In Memory of Karen Dolnik

The North Caldwell Recreation Foundation is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Karen Dolnik on October 18, 2024. Karen had been a fixture on the sidelines as she rooted on her children James and Kennedy, who participate in a multitude of sports year round. Karen and her family have also been generous supporters of the NC Rec Foundation’s fundraising efforts over the years. The Dolnik and Colacurcio families were major supporters of the recent renovation of Firemen’s Field. Karen will be missed tremendously by all those who knew her.

The North Caldwell Recreation Foundation is accepting donations in honor of Karen and will use any funds that it raises to create a lasting memorial to her at the fields where she loved to watch her children play.

Use of Donations & CONTRIBUTIONS

TENNIS & PICKLEBALL COURTS

The Rec Foundation used the funds raised at the 2024 Neighbor’s Night Out to pay for a number of additions to the recent renovations of the tennis and pickleball courts at Liberty Park, including windscreens for the tennis courts, and anticipated wind screens for the pickleball courts, as well as signage for the courts and designation of Jon Rapkin Center Court.

FIREMEN’S FIELD

The Rec Foundation contributed $50,000 towards the renovation of Firemen’s Field in Spring 2023 and was instrumental in raising over $50,000 from North Caldwell residents that was used to purchase new bleachers, additional netting, landscaping and additional paving, and will be used for purchase and installation of a scoreboard in 2024.

TOWN POOL
The Rec Foundation contributed over $30,000 towards the 2024 renovation of the town pool that was used towards the purchase of new diving boards, new lane lines, and a pool cover that will protect the town’s investment in this critical asset of North Caldwell.

Liberty Park

The Rec Foundation paid for Petry Engineering to perform the initial analysis and scope of work that was used as the basis for the installation of the turf field and improvements to Liberty Park. (Note: this study contributed to the North Caldwell Borough Council adopting a bond ordinance of $1.35M to improve Liberty Field).
